I"m sure its been covered a number of times. I'm planning on going from a retriever to a Muzzy reel. Do I really have to tie to the back or can I use a slide ?
Never understand why when someone new comes on here to ask a question they have, there always has to be a smart azz keyboard warrior that has to point out the search bar. In the time it takes you to type some smart azz comment about it you can very easily just answer the question in the same amount of time. No need to be a jerk off.
Ttb will pull off the arrow off the bow string if you forget to hit the button. With slides it won't then you watch the fish swim off with your arrow after it snaps your line.
Also get better arrow flight while ttb
I have to agree with Buff on this one. I have been shooting slides on my muzzy for years now and never lost an arrow. with any rod, i prefer shoot thru, the arrow falls off as you draw the bow. My arrow flight is not effected by the slide, you just have to tune the bow. I dont feel that tie to the back or slides is better, Both work well and people just need to try both to see what you like. Don't worry about what other people think.. shoot what works best for you.Always hear this but if you use a shoot through rod with slides the same thing happens. Never lost a arrow due to not pushing the button, several dry fires though! Little better arrow flight and even penetration in deeper water yes I would agree with that. For us though shooting bigheads on surface and constantly drawing and letting down, slides just work well IMO.
yOU MISSED A COUPLE VERY VALID POINTS...#1 i FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO MEET JUST ONE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN BLINDED BY A SNAP BACK(I hate caps lock)sorry...I can see how it could happen, with heavy line, but in all my years I have never seen valid proof of somebody being blinded...even anybody on here#2,it has nothing to do with the name of the line...NEVER TTB with anything over 200 lb test...thats the keySynopsis of all the threads I've read on this subject:
1. There is a lot of one-eyed bow fishers in the world
2. Muzzy recommends tying to back with their spinners
3. AMS Dacron line is the only thing stronger than an actual spider web.
Just be sure to only ttb if you use fast flight, carp cable, woody's, or monkey wire etc. All of these break when shot even at low poundage as demonstrated in a video which is readily available if you type this subject in the search bar. The string meant for retrievers like the AMS Dacron line will not break, but will stretch like a rubber band. Always use slides with retrievers.
The dacron used on retrievers is 200# so your last statement may need to include that. I would never TTB with that line.yOU MISSED A COUPLE VERY VALID POINTS...#1 i FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO MEET JUST ONE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN BLINDED BY A SNAP BACK(I hate caps lock)sorry...I can see how it could happen, with heavy line, but in all my years I have never seen valid proof of somebody being blinded...even anybody on here#2,it has nothing to do with the name of the line...NEVER TTB with anything over 200 lb test...thats the key

This should be a requirement for all members before they can post!
lol!!the first three causes all the wars guess we better be careful with no. 4 .There's political, religious and military. Those 3 topics are argued more in this world throughout history than all others....
Except TTB vs Slides
But the out come of the argument of all 4 is the same.
I disagree, I have a shorter draw and snap shoot when I have to and lost a few Arrows with slides. I can definitely see while shooting bigheads but still way more comfortable ttbAlways hear this but if you use a shoot through rod with slides the same thing happens.
