I have been hard core for halo's close to 15 years. Just got a knew boat and decided to change things up I put 10 150hps and know I wont ever run another halo on any of my boats again. I know the halo fixtures are cheaper but in the long run HPS light are cheaper. Due to having to replace the halo bulbs all the time. They will pay for themselves in a season just on bulbs not to mention they are alot brighter and they seem to make the fish glow in murky water. But to answer your question I would go with all 300 watt.

Spend the money and get HPS or MH to begin with, if you absolutely want the white light go with MH, theyre so much more efficient in terms of lumens/watt there is no reason not to

Thats what i was thinkin, but i wanted to see what everybody thought and i know how good the HPS lights are but my deck is not tall enough for them
I have a fixture thats only 6.6'' tall and will accept a 400w HPS or MH bulb.

Call me and I will be more than happy to take you out on my 1650 with (4)400w HPS's. You may like them. You may not. Then you can decide! Won't cost you a dime to see them in action.

"They will pay for themselves in a season just on bulbs "................BULLS--T...Bulbs are 1.00 each on sale at Harbor Frieght and normally 2 for 5.00. You can prefer them but they will not pay for themselves in one season even if you fished every night.

HPS and MH pay for themselves in light output, smaller generator with less watts and more lumens
