Can't decide to put up a rail or not, haven't taken it out yet. Guess I will have to wait to see if it is needed or not. Thats if it is not to unstable.

Here is a pic my 1648 with 9" raised deck and a 18" knee rail. I would not have it any other way!!! It is real nice having a rail on and does not seem to get in the way, gives you a place to put your beer holder and spot to rest the bow on and it keeps you from leaving the boat unexpectedly, LOL.

How well does that PVC railing work. I was thinking about that but didn't think it wold be worth it, and i have to fit it in my garage. The deck as of now is heavy as h*** it is made out of angel iron and 3/4" plywood, but i did move the batteries to back of the boat, and took out the flush deck so i saved a little weight.

Here's my old 1648.The first deck I built was on a 1436 and added a rail to it because the boat was pretty tipsy.I liked this one much better with no rail.

We can fish 3 of the deck. The only problem is I need more weight in the back. It doesn't want to steer very well with 3 up on the deck.

Two people is all I could shoot of of mine.With 3 on the deck my jet pump would be up out of the water.

It is actually very solid! it wraps around most the deck and added hardly any weight.

There is a piece that goes on to reduce the size of pipe. but i was able to put that peice on and ran a bolt through it. If you just browse the fittings at home depot or wherever its not hard to do! And it was super easy! And each side mounts to the deck 6 times, wrapping around the front and back of the deck so its solid!

just make sure you go around the corners! its a must with pvc! and i went with 1 1/2 inch, and wouldnt go any smaller than that! and dont go skimpy, make sure to run pipe mounting to the deck plenty of thimes! the more, the more solid! i feel like mine it solid though! good luck!

Well tested it out today and it works great,sits well in the water. A little wobbly but it is a huge difference in what i can see and the carp were spawning like crazy this afternoon. No need for a rail as of yet, but well see when i get 2 people up there.

I used my 1648 for several years without a rail around the deck. After some close calls I decided to add a 12" alum rail and I really like it. It serves lots of purposes: foot rest......reminder when your leg touches it that you're close to edge........drink holders.....rest for bottom limb of bow.....etc.

My 1648 doesnt have a rail and i love it, i never had a rail on my bass boat and didnt see where i needed one on my raised platform. but thats just me ... if i hit something i can just jump off my boat .... if there was a rail... i am picturing me going headlong into the water or bank or tree or what ever i hit lol... here is a pic of mine and like i said i love it with no rail...
