I am looking into buying a small generator and some lights for my 10 foot lake boat. I don't know how many lights I need to buy, what kind to get, or what kind of generator to get. I want to get a small one so that it doesn't take up much room. I have a very small budget, so that is key. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

10 ft boat... Buy 3 econolite 150 watt hps, $80 bux a piece I think, then what ever else you have left over spend on a small genny.. Bout the cheapest I can think off off the top of my head.

ur looking at 300-400 depending on your setup and what deals u can find on genny (cheaper if u can get a used one for cheap)...You can get 3 150 hps with caps for around $240 shipped i think and a small 1000w genny for around 100-140 shipped...You would need a little bigger genny on halos which would run between 200-300 new and then u would spend 30-60 on lights depending on how many and what watts

Try and not get a no name brand is all I can say, champion makes a dang good one, Honda yahmaha, generac.. All good brands

All I was saying was if he had a small 10ft boat and was wanting a "cheap" setup Halogens would work great $10 a piece vs $80 a piece HPS. everyone always talks about the brightness factor on HPS Vs. Halos. I just recomending an alternative to HPS that might save him some money. Just trying to help guess ill just stay out of this conversation though. I use a Coleman Generator ive run it for 5 yrs or better

This is the angle I'm going for. My brother and I are in this stuff just for kicks. We've been wanting to try night fishing ever since the first season of Realtree Roadtrips. Thanks for all the advice

you would be able to run 2-500W halogens and that would be pulling 100% of your generators capacity. if you had 500W halogens with 300W bulbs you could run 3 of them and that would pull 900watts out of the 1000watts you have. I have a 5000W continous run generator with 6250 surge watt, I run 8-500W take 8 lights and multiply that by 500W thats 4000watts. 4000W out of my 5000W genertator s 80% of its capacity which is where i like to stay.
