I'm still pretty green when it comes to bowfishing, and when someone asked me what I considered a long shot, I really didn't know how to answer it. Right now, if I can positively ID the fish as a "shootable" species, I'm taking the shot. But I'm not hitting anything past maybe 15' away.

So, is there a distance that you won't even bother drawing at?

Thanks,
Alex

50 yards? Your fn high! That heavy of an arrow dragging line out of the reel will notHave enough energy to go into a fish and that would take a 5 gal bucket of line! About 20 yards is all you need and I wouldn't shoot that far at a biG Fish

...ahhhhh...RUM...HELLO...it's in his name...duh? lol
20-25 yrds (end of bottle) on surface fish will easily blow through a fish. If they're under a bit, some will hold some will pull off.

I have witnesses that have watched me shoot 15” floating gar at the last 3’ of line on a muzzy spinner…if you shoot enough your gona make some long cool shots. But if it’s over 15 yards I’m gona get closer before I even think about pulling back.

Col Jeff Cooper once said as to marksmanship, it's not what you once did, but what you can do on command.

My friends call me quigley, and my wife calls me donkey.
