565 HP, 615 TQ big block. Compare similar boats up there and tell me what my prop and reduction combo needs to be! Everyone has their own opinions. I've heard 2.67 with 4 blade R sensenich, 2.3 with the new whirlwind 3 blade, and 2.3 with a water walker sirius 3 blade. Or do you think the 2.52 would be a good option? Looking for the best all around combo here. Not looking for blazing speed, but would like it to crawl across some ground. Anyone feel free to throw your opinions in and why you think your combo will work best.

·I would think that 2.53 would be the best of the three in my opinion. But I dont know poop. Reason I say is that I think that 2.3 seems to peak in performance around 500 hp. above 500 hp isnt getting the full potential out of the prop in my opinion. That 2.68 is just too slow at WOT. people running that 2.68 on big bowfishing hulls have to turn some srious motor rpm to get it to move. More motor rpm, more chances of "ka-boom" and more fuel consumption. I would think the 2.53 would be slow enough to pitch to low end, but still be fast enough to reach a good cruiseing speed without dogging the everloving chit out of your motor to get prop rpms... You know, right in the middle or best of both worlds kinda thing...

2.3 reduction 4 R blades..80" or 82" that's what I would do...I would probably go with the 80" I agree the 2.68 is slow, and u do have to spin ur motor at higher RPM's to get her going... But... I know a guy running 2.68 and 4 R blades and he runs his motor at 6k and that is one bad ass boat! Crazy fast, and will run the hill! But, its like 800HP ...lots of boats up here have

No not yet...I did see them take out and replace a 454 one day at the shop in about 4 hours...it was better then a NASCAR pit stop...most the problems are small...I towed back a nice 20' diamondback that had the levitator motor this past Wednesday" alternator went out "

2.3 with 3 Blade Master Blaster withthe new swept tip and add the New Armour Coating. my 2cent.
I have run 1.7, 2:1, 2.3, 2.5, and 2.68
If you want to run the 2.5 add another blade!

My 400 smallblock Chevy has only 425 HP and it pushes a 2.68 geardrive and 3 blade Sensenich superwide S props. We run dry grass on my 20ft airboat....certainly not a top speed boat but we also only burn 20 gallons in a 12 hours shoot running around all night. The point is that you could easily run this combo with engine you have now.
Call Dan the airboat man on southernairboat and see what he says. It cant hurt to get advice from another airboat expert. BTW, I am NOT an expert...been airboating about a year now since we built this boat.

I have talked with Dan about this and he really likes the 2.68 with 4 blade r setup. So does Dave with water thunder. But they do admit really the only testing they have done is on smaller boats. I don't plan on running my motor over 5200 rpm. A boats bottom will almost cause the boat to crawl on dry just as much as its motor. Seems the whirlwinds do really well with these tuna can style bottoms.

That's it man, them big boats need 572's...or 650+HP...the hull is just as important as the motor. Don't think a diamondback is gona follow an air ranger, or a silver river red dollar neck oma is gona follow that air ranger either...

Don't forget Alumitech in there...I have personally seen beebelawns 18x8 with built 496 2.68 with 3 blade S crawl everywhere and anywhere and never even come close to stopping. Also, Im not going to lie, Gibbys 18x8 red river was a BEAST when it came to dry ground. It only had the 383 with 425hp on it with I believe a 2.3 with 2 blade master blaster.
