Minn kota or motor guide. Possibly going to buy a 82 pound foot controlled motorguide in the next few days wondering what everyone prefers.i would rather have a hand controlled but the price is right from the guy im getting it from.

You might want to look at this one.A 2070 is a big boat and is gonna be heavy once you load it up.If you want to convert the foot control to hand,you could put a Hoopty Sexy Stick on the pedal and convert it to hand control.

I have been down both roads and won't have anything but Minn Kota on my boats. The shafts are breakable but thats part of the game. Go get you a custom 70'' shaft built for a motor guide and bend it real good. Then go back and have another custom shaft made and you'll see why we are using minn kota's. New minn kota shaft shipped to you for $54. A good machinist will charge more than that per hour to build you one for a motor guide. If your using a stock shaft then motor guides are great trollers, just cost to much to extend them right.

I've never used a custom shaft, I'm getting by with the 60"er from the factory. When I bend one I put it in the little cheapo pipe bender and get with it. The troller I have now is a 24v 75lb motorguide. The shaft on it is totally different than on the older motorguides I used to use. It's larger in diameter and waaaay tougher. I hit an old building foundation so hard it ripped the mounting bolts loose from the deck and of course bent the shaft. Straightened it out, bolted it back down (big ol washers) and good to go. No waiting on Minn Kota to warranty it, and no tearing the motor apart to put a new shaft in. To each his own though. I drive Chevy's and like Mercury's too.

Ive been using a foot contoled, thinking bout getting a new 24v 70-80lb range, is the remote ones hard to get used to? Maybe some of you guys that have tried both could help me out??

The remotes don't take long at all to get used to not bad at all... I still like my foot control with the Hoopty Sexy Stick!.. That way it is push/pull steering on a foot controlled troller!
