So what do you consider "the average guy" when it comes to bowfishing? I've heard the term quite a few times on this site who do you think makes up a majority of our sport? Is it the guys on the banks, on a boat during the day, or boats with lights what do you think?

the average guy never hits a forum, never herd of the BAA, never entered a tourney, or never dreamed he would ever see another bowfishing boat. I would imagine the avg. guy is 25-45, sick of bass boats and the rich crowd on the water when he used to try to day fish but now he has a few lights and enjoys the still waters of night fishing. maybe him and a few buddies or his kids. he has a boat but its a 1648-1860 that may still have carpet from when he rod fished not long ago.

the avg bowfishermen may shoot 3-30 fish a outing over a 3-5hour period. I would also bet that the avg guy would rather spend money on gas or beer than he would think to upgrade his safety equipment or do some PM work on his trailer. the avg guy enjoys his time, life is simple. maybe his trophy is a single big fish or a photo to show mom when they get home. his bow is weathered maybe a hand-me-down or a older bow not worthy of the deer woods anymore. I envy this person, they think about bowfishing only when its convenient even though they wish it were convenient more often. I would imagine the avg guy only spends less than $100 a year on gear.

Through tv shows, sites like this and the general popularity of bowfishing the "average guy's" are becoming fewer each year and now They're all experts! If ya don't believe me ask any of them they'll tell you so!

I hope and pray that the average is still the guy that does it for the time with family and friends. That its less about the glory of the brag and more about the time spent on the water enjoying what so few allow themselves time to experience.

It's kinda regional. Some places, the average guy has a $20k boat; here is south LA, the average guy is a teen standing on a bridge shooting passing gar, while his buddy holds a Q-beam.

Nationally: I'd say it's a weekend warrior type, with a small converted jonboat. Just because the no boat/part-timers far out number the airboat/fanboat pros and semi-pros.

Well guess I have been avg by LA standards https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kWGlu149uRE but with new boat and setup might have graduated to above avg now....lol but still miss sometimes so might be below avg on some nights

If you enjoy slinging arrows at fish with a bow your above average!! Keep running into people who have never heard of such!!:D

I'm going to be honest, it is a little creepy how spot-on that description is of me. I mean down-right creepy. I was never into rod fishing, but the rest of it is pretty much on the money.

Dead On! I think we have a winner

We don't have many bank shooting opportunities locally so our average guy either shoots from a Jon boat or his buddy's Jon boat. Most have never heard of bowfishing country or the other forums. They might belong to a Facebook group or two and give bad advice to other average guys. Typically they all shoot ams retrievers and think they are best. Often say spinners are dangerous and you will poke an eye out with one as they all have friend of a friend that had a snap back using a spinner. For a boat they have a troller and work shop halogens rigged up half ass. They have only shot their one of two eater bodies that are with in a half hour of home and have never entered a tournament. Typically most arnt bad guys just never realized you could take the sport to whole new level
