Tranny bolted and riveted in! Next is knee braces. I'm going to rivet and glue them to the old knee braces to maintain their strength. I already made the side template out of cardboard and the top will be an easy straight cut. There's 4 bolts going through the transom. I'm going to make a plate to bolt onto the Tranny then weld my pieces to it. I will be taking more pics so if I lost anyone stay calm. Just wanted to keep my posts going just to give people something to look at. And if my boat sinks, this will turn into a "how not to fix a boat" thread!

Phillip. Yeah that was the plan from the start. My theory is it will be plenty strong for the 25hp I'm putting on it. Even with a motor on the back I get 0 flex bouncing on it. I will not be going full speed and I don't even think it'll get on plane. My next winters project will be making a new bench seat and tying that back to the transom.
I was actually shocked that the cross member your referring to has a ton of flex in it. I clamped an angle of aluminum on it and it would flex more than I liked so I decided to use the factory knee brace location (it had no flex at all. I'm no engineer but I believe it should be good with only a 25 and usually only trolling. Think I still need it

for a 25 it should be fine, im just thinking if you ever wanted to put a bigger motor on it you wont have to worry about it.

its a lot easier to built that transom strong now than next summer when you realize that you want a 70hp

Yeah I know! I already want a bigger motor and I haven't even bought the 25 yet (my buddy at work has it for sale) but it's a good enough deal that I can't pass it up. I took it out last night and have 1 hole to patch up then I can put my floor in and start on battery and gas tank trays. Ordered some parts and lights off amazon. Tires and rims were cheap. I should be seeing them mid next week. So far I love the stability of it with 2 people in the front deck. I think 4 will be pushing it but 3 would be easy. We'll see in the next few weeks
