Well, even though the LED project isn't 100% finished I'm gonna go ahead and post some pics and narrative of what I did. I'll be adding a lot more pics to this thread, especially after I get everything finished.

I had to do a few mods to the fixtures and my light rail both to get things to jive, but it looks like things worked out nicely! :hb: Thanks to my good buddy Shane (bretz) who helped with the whole (insanely aggravating!) process! After screwing up everything I possibly could have, I finally got things figgered out. I think.

All that's left now is pulling each light apart, re-soldering new heavier wires to the LED chips, running better screws to the reflectors, mounting the lights back up, and figuring out how I'm running my drivers. The drivers will be mounted under my seat most likely, and will be ran off of 3 group 31 batteries.

The only sticking point is having them wired so that I only have 2 wires ran to each rail-a positive and a negative. This will allow me to keep the rails removeable. I plan on having a 'dry run' this week to see if what I have in mind will work. I did it with 3 lights and it did work, but there was some decent heat at the battery terminals. When I figger THAT out I'll let yall in on it.

Anyways here's what I have so far-enjoy!

First order of business was to rip out the old school halos and unfortunately I had to lose my front support tube, but things are more than supported with the new braces.

In order to get enough length on my stainless screws I had to countersink the corners...

And then drill through the heat sink part of the fixture-this allows me to run #10 stainless bolts through the retaining ring, the heat sink, AND the 1/8" mounting bracket-SOLID!

Image

Here's where things got kinda tricky-I had to shim the heat sink out even further with nylon washers in order to get clearance with my rail. Long story on how I ended up going this route but all that matters is it WORKS.

These things are WAY easier to mount once you take the driver/box off the back...

The rail with the new supports welded up...

This took a funky turn-I wanted to run the lights all one direction, but it just wasn't happening with the design of my rail. So I had to mount the front light on end. It didn't seen to make much difference which was it was angled-we'll see on the water...

Damn man... those look S-L-I-C-K!

we're currently running six 150HPS, but i feel a conversion coming on. maybe... :cf:

the only hangup i have is wether or not the led's will "cut" the murk. Typical visibility is less than a foot or so at most locations we shoot, with an occasional nearly crystal clear location from time to time.
