I have my new bowfishing bow ordered and its due to come in sometime this week. Im trying to decide what reel to put on it. I see lots of people use the Muzzy Reels and likewise, I see lots of people use the AMS reels as well. My question is, what is the pros and cons to each? What are the pro features and the con features of each and what one would you suggust I purchase and why?

Im not sure, but does the AMS reels have drag or do you just grab the string and hold on? I like the fact you can just pull back and shoot with the AMS, but I like the drag feature found on the muzzy reels...not sure if AMS has drag or not..so if you can, please elaborate as to which reel is "best".

Appreciate it.

A AMS bottle reel will last you the longest. You will lose less arrows. I still have my first bottle reel I bought 12 years ago and it has been used at the Archery camps USA deal the last two years. With that being said I use Synergy reels. Seem to shoot good reel fast and more compact on the bow for me. I think all reels have pros and cons. I used Muzzy reels and I had troubles with them but my partner has had zero troubles with his the past three years. I didnt like Zebcos cause of the drags and I broke them more than anything. The Synergy reels I would break the feet on them until I started useing the Bowfishing Extreme reel seat and have not broke a reel since.
