Hi I a 1648. Flatbottom. With a 6x6 deck 12" tall I have 8. 500 watt work lights. I want to go with 150 how lights. How many 150 hps lights would I need

one 150 hps is as much light output as a 500 w halo... and the fish look better IMO ... so if you wanna go hps... you odviously have plenty of genny ... 6-8 minimum and add from there1

Just to compare (and I know a lot of guys will say that these numbers don't mean anything but they actually do to a certain extent) BUT,

150 Watt HPS = 16,000 Lumens
500 Watt Halogen = 9,500 Lumens

But I see what skippy is saying, If you had enough generator to run all them halos you have way more than enough generator to run 6 150 watt HPS. Something to think about.... 4 400's

I like the 400. And 150. Mix. Might go that way. Thanks for the info guys I think I know where I'm going now. tH

4 400's is all you would ever need. Some people on this sight keep talking about them things being too bright. That's the craziest thing I ever heard. NO SUCH THING AS TOO BRIGHT. If you are thinking about HPS you should consider 4 400's. Going to cost you the same as 6 or 8 150's but less wiring and less things to go wrong
