I had the 27's on my old boat and they worked well but I built a 1648 this winter and went with the 50's and I like them a lot better. It actually took about 3 of the 27's to put out the amount of light 1 of the 50's does. You will be fine with the 16 -27's you have the 50's just cut down on wiring and the spacing of the lights.

here is my setup.

How does that 25hp move that thing? I just bought a 1648 with a 30 on it (havnt even had it on the water yet) and am concerned that after I deck it, the motor won't have the balls to get it up on plane. You do ok with it? Thanks

Cool thanks, if I can get it on plane that is all that will matter. Going to use this boat instead of my 19' Champion with a 200 on it. Gonna need to get used to 25mph instead of 65. Pay off is going to be getting in those back areas tho and getting those silvers to jump too!:D

Gotta love a champion though. I have an old one and my brother has one not a bass boat out there that rides as smooth and you don't have to slow down in heavy chop.
Ya for sure. I can run through 2' waves like nothn at 50 plus, just drop the bow a bit and rock and roll. It is fun to watch even some pleasure boaters try and keep up with us on the Illinois river. And that's with a 55 gallon drum full of silvers on the bow!

And post up Badtx on how she does. Thanks!
Waters finally started to get soft again up here so we will be out soon....

I don't want to hijack this thread but what kind of battery system are you running t-bone? I set up five 12v 50 watt LEDs on my boat this winter and I'm only getting about 3-3.5 hours of run time per battery. I use the 122 amp hour deep cycle from Walmart.

Could be your charger isn't charging them all the way. Charge them and check the volts then wait a few days and check them again to see if they are discharging without a load.

Did you leave the front deck in the boat, also the M means mode Vee.
Let me run out on the floor and see if we make float pods for that it would help a bunch.
The seat also helps hold the beam on that boat so the three rivets on top of the seat will be under alot or pressure.

Badtxmofo, nice build! Looks sick! Im in the process of doing one on my 1648 flat bottom alumacraft as well. Im struggling figuring out how to mount it. I wanna be able to take in on and off relatively quickly. It appears that you could do this if you wanted. Did you use like 6 inch pieces of 2 inch angle to weld your uprights too that sit on your round side rail of your boat with a bolt through it? Or is that a channel? I'm thinking that's how i want to do mine. Is that all its sitting on is those 6 spots of the edge of the rail? Thanks man

No it's al 1 1/2 square, I cut one side out and it fit perfect, I think they are 4inches maybe I drilled a hole in the front two and back two and ran bolts through to secure it. All my lights are run to the deck with trolling motor plugs so I can unplug them and remove it. I made a leg on the front middle with a foot that sits on the little existing deck and one on the back middle that sits on a rib.

I found it. Been helping Kevin out on this thing looks dam good. Funny how Greg found this thread too. I know both of y'all but y'all dOnt know each other. Funny how that works. Good looking boat kevin
