Had a good day on saturday. Was able to get my buddy that moved to Montana a few years back on his first trip since he moved out west. It was a good time! 82 carp and buffs and a bonus pike.

Went to South Dakota for paddlefish opener. Water conditions were horrible. No paddlefish but did get some fish.
Don't feel bad about that. This year is going to be super tough to fill a paddlefish tag.

Did you bring your own boat down or did you go through a guide?

We took home 1st place at our Lake Thompson Tournament. Had 14 boats which was pretty low compared to last year but the paddlefish season is getting more and more popular and the weather was dog chit sunday. We grinded it out and made it happen!

Big 15 1st place was 265.3lbs

Pulled in my first ray of the season and it had what I am guessing is an eel attached to it. Any other ray guys ever have this happen? eel.JPG

Have shot more than a bunch of rays, and a few of them with remoras stuck to them, but that looks like an ocean Lamprey attached to that one, kinda like a cross between a leech and an eel, have caught rockfish with them before but never shot a Ray with one attached...

Yeah baileyB, that's a lamprey. They got into the great lakes after they opened the seaway in the 50's. Now we see them on carp here(in Ontario) fairly frequently. I shot one swimming on its own once, that was pretty cool.
