the 800/900maxwatts generator from harbor freight... think it can run 5 150w hps capped?

My 150's w/caps start at 1.9a and run at 1.4a, so x 5= 9.5a start, 7a run.
800w gen = 6.6a
Not looking good.....

crud, okay. It sounds like 4 would work fine if I started two of them before the other two... I might have to find a better gen tho. I like that one cuz its super light and cheap. That's all im looking for really.

I might have found a 4000w gen for 50 bucks today on reno craigs, weighs 100 lbs but for 50 bucks... I also can get kind of a package deal for 5 of the hps so i might be just using 5

hm it was sold, im really liking the idea of the champion 1200/1500 on home depot, that would run the 5 hps right?

id just save up a little and get a 3000 or so watt that way in time if you want to run a converter or use it for any reason you have the extra power u shop on cl a little bit and you will find one for a decent price

If it's any consolation.
My $100 1800w generator from a local outlet store runs 56dB. VERY quiet. And very little vibration.
I may only be able to run 5 or 6 150w HPS lights, I'll buy another one of these before I buy a big loud 4000w Genny that runs 100dB and vibrates the boat to bits.
Plus it weighs like 25lbs? Lol
