I have 10 50w LED to mount to my light rail on my 1648 boat. Does anybody have a good starting point for distance between each light or what you found to be suitable with no overlap (please also tell if the distance is from the center to center or side to side of the lights).

mine are about 10in in between lights.... I would just evenly space out 8 of them on front and put 2 on the back...10 will be plenty for a 1648!!

2 on the back near the outboard and generator to see what I'm doing? I have an led strip going around the boat but not sure how bright that will be maybe Ill need more light

How big is you boat? How much spacing between each light?

With a 1648 you could space 10 equally around the whole boat and not have any dead spots. I wouldn't worry about it to much and just put them where it makes sense. I have 6 on my boat. 2 up front and two on each side. Wish I had two more for the back.

wouldn't 3 inches be way overkill? I feel like you would have a ton of overlap..I was thinking about going 10" apart

When you are saying two lights for the back, is that just so you have extra light do mess with the generator and outboard motor or what do you need the lights in the back of the boat for?

Oh got ya. Where do you mount them to thought? I assume your light rail doesnt span all the way to the back right?

I just turned the brackets to the bottom and used self tapping screws on old boat.

just screwed them right into the gunnel? Thanks for the advice that's a good idea

I spaced mine by zip tying them to the light rail and turning the lights on in the dark. Then start drilling holes.
