I have a 70lb Minn-Kota that already has the shaft extended on it. I sold the boat I was going to use it on, which had a Bowfishing Extreme trolling motor mount on it. I read that these motors have problems with the plastic brush holders melting? Are the riptide models built the same way, or are they better made? I found a good deal on a riptide with the regular bow-mount I need, I'm wondering if I should pick it up. My next boat won't have a raised deck so I don't need the extended shaft. But can they be extended if something changes down the road?
