bigger the motor the less stress on it. buy a 112 and know that's as good as it gets. yes you can get by with a 80 or even a 55. if you just go slow and straight it will be fine. if you want it to last a long time and not melt down get the biggest possible.

 

I've burned up (2) 80lb Traxxis motors on my 2072.... Upgraded to the Riptide 112 this year and I am much happier. Plenty of power and rarely use anything about 60% on the 112.

 

My buddy has a sea ark 2072. It's a heavy one due to the raised deck ballast box etc. the 24 v 80 lb moves
It pretty good. Usually can get 6 to 8 hrs on a full charge

I have a custom 2072 thats probably a little more heavy than yours but I have a 112 on it and wouldn't go any smaller unless i already had the 80. If you have the generator for it try some power max converters, and with them you don't have to run such a big battery either. I think you need a 55 amp converter and they use about 780 watts at max draw.
