AGM Batteries

Is anybody else running absorbed glass mat batteries? I fought some issues last year of keeping my batteries charged last season. Several hours of fishing with newbies is rough on my batteries. …you know the drill: shoot fish, kill engine, land fish, take pictures, and start engine to resume fishing. Of course the LED’s are running the whole time with the engine off. My alternator checked out okay and then I realized I was running a pair of starter batteries. My rack and battery boxes are designed for group 24 batteries, so I’d like to stick with those dimensions. It appears that a group 34M AGM battery will fit. Are there any issues with swapping these out? Is there another group size AGM that has better specs that will fit?

Here’s another question- I’ve heard that the DieHard Platinum AGM’s are comparable to the Odyssey batteries. Does anybody have input on the brand?

Nothing but good things to say about AGM. They're heavier the same size gel cell tho.

Thanks fellas. I confirmed that a group 34M will indeed fit inside a group 24 battery box. I think I'll pick up a couple of the DieHard Platinums and take her for a test run this weekend.
