The Passing on the Tradition Organization will also be conducting a Asian Carp study during the Big 30 Challenge. The activity will be called the Support Groups Asian Carp Reduction Project. Every team competing in the tournament will be helping out with the study. During weigh-in Support Group Team members will be recording the number of Asian Carp (Bighead and Silver) that each tean checks-in. Every team that weighs-in a minimum of five (5) Asian Carp (Bighead or Silver) of their 30 fish total will have their team number added to a list of teams eligible to win a $200.00 Cash Reward that will be given out at the end of the Big 30 Challenge Tournament.
Removing hundreds of Asian Carp from the Ohio River system during the AMS Big 30 Challange should have a positive effect on native fish species populations. The Support Group is honored to be working with AMS Bowfishing to help gather vital information needed to show what a positive impact of having this type of bowfishing event can have on a river system that has the invasion species in it.
