The server is paid for and ordered. It should be a screamer when its all set up. For the few geeks among us:
DELL POWEREDGE
TWO XEON 5160 DUAL CORE 3.0GHZ CPU'S W. 4MB CACHE
8GB FBDIMM RAM
4 x 500GB SATA HDD
PERC 5i ARRAY CONTROLLER
DUAL 10/100/1000 ETHERNET


Also, since we have to make our home here on this machine for a few days, I have spent the morning adjusting settings in each and every forum (has to be done one at a time), to increase performance... cache settings, ajax calls, etc.

Little by little the forums seem to have gotten faster and faster. It's actually not too bad considering what we are currently running on.


So, I will keep tweaking a bit this evening, and rebuilding.
When the server gets delivered it will take some time to setup, configure, transfer and test but am looking forward to pure speed for a change.

My appreciation for the understanding and patience on everyone's part. Hopefully there wont be any more drama for a while. I think I aged 10 years this week!

I try to do those only when needed. We have done 2 today so far.

But in case the site seems to blink out for a few minutes... don't panic - Its just necessary to alter all the settings.
