Hey gang...looking forward to hanging around the forums a bit. I'm new to bowfishing and have a great boat to do it, but it's time for the lights. On a bit of a budget now, so HPS lights are a pipe dream for now. I have a Honda 2000 generator to run the lights. I was told about an old GE Ultra 350 watt bulb replacement for halogen lights that have the same lumens of a 500 watt without the extra wattage. If I did this I could have 4-5 350 watt halos (if I find the bulbs). Where can I find these GE Ultra 350 watt bulbs?

I'm up for all other options as well, including cheap HPS options as long as my 2000 generator will run them. Bottomline...if you had a Honda 2000 generator, what light setup would you choose? I'm looking at doing a lot of saltwater if that helps.

Thanks fellas...looking forward to some input.

hpf=high power factor and will come with a capacitor already installed in the housing
npf=normal power factor and will have no capacitor(Capacitors can be added but thats the ballast removal road)

Not sure on total amp draw numbers but do know that your 2000 watt genny will not run 6 npf 150 watt HPS
It will run 6 HPF ballast no problem.

The light you posted above is NPF ballast.

its all personal opinion, but if I was building a boat to shoot mainly saltwater it would be metal halide lights or halo's. Now I have 4 hps on my boat because I maily shoot stained lakes and rivers, but I have been on boats in salt water with a mixture of lighting and feel that the whiter light is better in the bays. Either way, I see you have two options, both of which are gonna cost. Either drop the dime on the HID lighting, or get a larger genereator and run halo's. In the end, its gonna be about a wash bewtween the two for coin, so I'd get the HID lights which ever you chose.

welcome to the site. Do some research on this site but I would also suggest the 150 hps with caps. Just plug em into the genny with a power cord and go! you can run 8 with that genny. don't need that many, but I recomend this setup to everyone. One quiet generator that you can pick up with one hand and 8 hps lights spread out on your boat. I love this setup. I run 7 on my boat with 2 power cords.

On the ones in the link you posted you could run all 6 on one cord and not have to wait to plug anything in.

If you leave the ballast in the slip fitter mount is not gonna work you'll break that piece off the housing in no time. You'll want to build u brackets and drill holes in the sides of the housing to mount them
