So for those of you that are not on facebook there was a famous charter out of south florida and a facebook famous guy that shot a black longnose gar and the BAA recorded it as a state and world record. There was a former famous BFC person who posted about his opinion on the subject on facebook and it ended up having a lot of comments, like over 100 im sure, before said poster decided to delete it. I want to know what everyones opinion is on here of the BAA giving out records for fish like black gar (long or short nosed) or albino bigheads or butterfly carp or crucian carp.
MY OPINION:
I do not think they should register a fish like a black gar of any sort as its own separate record. I do not know if a koi or common carp or crucian carp or a butterfly carp or a mirror carp have any genetic differences or not. If there is any genetic difference in the species then by all means record it as a record but if they are the same, genetically, then its just another *insert fish species here*...
Next thing you are going to see if world and state record albino fish... even tho they are genetically the exact same and nonalbinos.
