BAA Spring Meeting 2011
The spring meeting will be out of Nashville, Tenn at Brentwood, Tenn.

What do Yall think about $500 for a Lifetime member being able to make 10 $50 payment in one year.
If they do not make all the payment they get 1 year for every $50 payment thay made.

I'm sorry I can't make this one but I will send a short report regarding Iowa and Nebraska.
I hate that it is in Nashville the same time as the NWTF convention, I will be working there fri. through sun. Keep us informed how it goes, and yall come by and visit with me at the NWTF afterwards.
I will be working the NWTF also but I am taking off Sat morning for the meeting.

although the payments your asking about for the lifetime membership can be voted on at the spring meeting, why not put the 50 dollars a month up in an account till you reach the 500, and then get your membership....what your asking is the sec./treasurer to keep up with potentially hundreds of people doing the same thing for 10 months....or, you could save up the 50 a month yourself, and send it in once you reach the 500 in 10 months so she will not have another thing to try to keep up with.....that is what I do for deer camp every year......as do other people I know...

3. seperating out the points chairman job to only handling points for the events for the year
4. possibly creating a sanctioned events person
5. creating a records/ citation fish person....(we have one already available to do this position)

I would like to see the weekend for Worlds alternate between the third and fourth weekends in July. In other words, one year have it on the fourth weekend July 23 and the next year have it on the third July 16th.

I'd like to see a lower membership fee. I think that a $20 per year fee would allow for the BAA to gain more members. We don't seem to have much for mailings anymore so that helps reduce operating costs. The option to add the Bowfisher Magazine for an extra $10 per year is a great idea also.
Also I preferred that the worlds date be able to change to allow us to target the best times to bowfish. I know that people like to be able to schedule vacation but the bids are determined by November the preceding year giving you plenty of time to plan and schedule.
The Worlds Date:
This was brought up last year at the spring meeting, and was also brought up about the people who put in bids being able to change the date for their bids....this was put on the 4th weekend in july because of these issues:
1. worlds being in july will not conflict with muzzy, cajun classic, anahuac, guntersville shoot-out, youth worlds, etc....
2. 4th weekend was decided because it was far enough away from 4th july, and consistent....there are 5 weekends in july.....I asked for some leaway with the 4th weekend thing and tried to get just july, but was voted down on it...( I work every other weekend, and will have to take a weeks vacation if its on my weekend, if not, no vacation needed, and I have to be at worlds whether I shoot it or not) majority wanted it set in stone from year to year to make it for vacation reasons, and also for consistency...
BAA Membership:
voted to increase to help build funds over time to help with routine things throughout the year, and also to help with issues that may come up like the redfish ban attempt last year.
Membership is going up 10.00 if you do not want the 6 issues of the bowfisher magazine a year, and none if you do. The bowfisher is costing us 20.00 a year for the subscription, so you're only paying 30.00 for your BAA membership. 20 dollars a yr for the subscription is cheaper than what you will be able to get it for if your not a BAA member. And as also posted on the forums with how much people spend on equipment and bowfishing in general, the membership cost is only a few arrows a year......
I spoke with walt who did the BAA journal, and he stated to me that the subscription is cheaper this way than the same amount of journals for the BAA thru him...
If you send in an idea, I will bring it up at the meeting, but if your present and bring it up, you will be able to voice your reasonings around that idea. Again, the people who make the meeting are the ones who listen to the ideas and vote on them, and the reason why Nashville was picked was because it was the most centrally located place for the meeting....this was done well before my tenure with the BAA.... I also have to drive quite a few hours to put on a meeting and it would be closer for the officers to have the meeting in our home state, but that would not be fair to all.....that is why Nashville has been the meeting point every year.

that is what I have seen so far.....
I plan on being there this year and every year for now on......if the weather is good. I would like to see a five tournament shoot for a build up for the Worlds and the five shoots be sanctioned by the BAA. We could use tournaments already used Like Muzzy, Anahuac, Chick, Cajun Classic etc. I think it would make these shoots even bigger and maybe something to work for through the year. The Worlds is a big deal and I have seen that last year. You WILL shoot against the best of the best and it would be nice to shoot a series of shoots like that with the BAA involved. Just a thought and Im just coming into the meeting deal so this maybe way out left field.

2 More members = more power when representing the bowfishing community while fighting for our rights.
