Hey everyone, my friends and I are just getting into night bowfishing and would like your recommendations on the best (and cheap) lighting setup for a 1436 Jon boat. I know most people start with spotlights, but I just can't get them to last long enough.

Get a Q beam spot light, the one that has a 12v plug and then buy the cheap walmart adaptor so you can run it straight off a battery. Thatll cost ya under $40

55w drivin light from walmart=20 bucks for two, then add in a switch and some wire and boom! let there be light!
also you can just mount it to the stabilizer hole if you don't have a spinner, that's how i did it when i was using an ams
Up side to this is both ppl can shine and shoot, not one person holds the light and the other shoots

every body knows im a big fan of L.E.D.s if your on the cheap i would recommend getting 6- 27watt leds. $250 but no matter how big you want to go later you can always add more. they are easy to mount anywhere and are easy on batteries. they wont blow bulbs like halos. they are cool to the touch, water resistant and shockproof. and the most beautiful part. . . . . . NO GENNY REQUIRED ! ! !

It depends on how many batteries or genny. I work in the automotive field so I had used batteries around and started with driving lights and batteries. Since then I have went to 150w HPS and genny but that has taken a few years. I'm not sold on LEDs yet but giving it a try. If you have a good size genny I would say halo is the cheapest and best light for the price. I would suggest HPS or LED if you are willing to spend more money. Remember most of us started small/cheap and expanded, don't look at what's cheap now but what's better in the long run. That is why I have 8 halos in the garage not being used. They were great for 6 months now have no purpose, would have been better buying 1 HPS or led at a time. IMOA

Good job on buying the LED's. If ya got enough money to buy 2 more right now I would. If not the 4 ya got should work. All you need is a toggle switch from your local hardware store and a fuse is not necessary however if you would like to use one it would depend on if you are using 12v or 24v. For 12v you would be drawing 9 amps for 4 lights. For 24v you would be drawing 4.5 amps. So basically at 12v you would need around a 10 amp fuse and at 24v you would need around a 5 amp fuse. I'm 99.99% sure I'm right on this one but you might want to run this over with OBG (Old Bald Guy) first. Good luck! :tu:
