my favorite has to be the mako, this summer has been outrageously productive in killing carp with that bow.

 

First generation compounds bows from a pawn shop. Cheap, low let off, work good, cheap, shoot arrow, cheap.

they all have pluses and minuses if you can hit with it its a good bow.:applause:

Bumping this up. Thinking about ditching the old hunting bow and going with either a suckerpunch, disco 2, fishhawk, swamp it, or anything else. What do you guys like?

 

Just get a lever bow you won't regret it

 

Ive shot an osprey, and yes, it was awesome, and some day i will have one. But that time isnt here yet. Most of the compounds can be picked up for a third of the price of an osprey, and not everyone wants to spend that much on a bow. I bumped this more for discussion than my own desire to buy something.

 

Look into an older h riser Oneida they can be had for under $200

 

Best bang for buck I'd say d2. But I've heard several good things bout the sucker punch just don't get that hybrid reel with it cause it sucks

 

Chance I too have an older oneida and love it but i think what clint is trying to ask for is other options... I am also looking for other options because just this past year I started shooting out of a boat so holding those old oneidas gets tiring after a while. I would like opinons on lighter wheelie bows too... sucker punches, swampthings, disco2s. I have a craze for my wife and I like shooting it too... just looking for other options

I picked up a athens harpoon the other day, guy basically gave it to me with a strike eagle I bought. Tuned it up and it shoots awesome, I'll probably still be sticking with my lever bows but it's gonna make a very good spare/loaner bow

 

Can you guys give me a pros and cons of a sucker punch?... without the reel of course lol

 

Not smooth as my Osprey, but I don't have any complaints. I still shoot my Sucker Punch quite a bit.

 

Well No compound is going to be as smooth as an oneida Im sure of that

 

They all kill fish so gonna say "whichever on is in my hand with fish in front of me" don't really matter Oneida, D2, Menace , Cuda, Suckerpunch, but do prefer an Oneida

I recently shot the ams erad that a friend brought over and that bow is amazing! so smooth! zero let off which is nice cuz ive been shooting an older Oneida for a few years now. My wife has a craze and what I noticed about that bow is how shallow the grooves are in the cam. She has popped her string off the came a couple of time and what I noticed about the erad was how deep those grooves are in the cams. I really like the Erad and want to get one someday

 

You might want to look at the Alpine Mako. I found one new on Ebay a few months back for $230 with free shipping and it is a very well built bow. It might not be as well known of a bow as some of the others but I seldom hear anyone say anything negative about them.

 

I have seen those too but they seem a little too short ATA for me. I like the ERad cuz its like 34-35" ATA

 

Still enjoying my Mission Craze. Will be 3rd or 4th year with it. No plan on changing it anytime soon. We only have a 3 month season so it only gets a couple hundred shots a year. Back up is my Micro Midis 3 that was custom built in Texas from a fine member of this forum and mailed to me with a Gargod string. It is my boat bow and Craze is my shore bow and early season when carp are down deeper. Both with Muzzy reels. CHEERS!

 

I found a discovery 2 on Amazon for $140 w/free shipping. Just got it in the mail today. Its the 29# model. Ran to the bow shop, had finger slicks put on and grabbed a QD rest. I tightened the limbs all the way down, went out for a few practice shots, and ive got to say, all the reveiws i read were right on. This thing is badass for $140. It seems like it hits hard for only 29# and the draw blows my hunting bows away. Very smooth draw for such a small bow. Best part, it weighs less than 3lbs bare bow.
