What's the best Gps/navigation unit to mount on console

Looking at these myself for my new build. For the dollar i found the new base elite 7 the best bang for the buck. You can split the screen into 3 sections if you wanted too. I had an HDS5 on my last boat that i sold and it was a great unit, but that 7" screen is really nice vs the 5". Cabelas has them for $600 even.

It's a danged shame that they don't make a vehicular unit that crosses over for marine use.

They make them the other way around. Lowrance even has a Baja version. Not too many cars need waterproof nav systems.

The Elite 7 with the wide screen is the ticket. I opted for it over the HDS since I'll never need the side scan. The unit has done everything above my expectations. The menu isn't real user friendly so it'll take practice. I've been running mine for 10 months with no issues.

The Elite 7 comes with a pretty awesome base map. I run at night all the time with this unit. It's pretty much "plug and play". Plus the widescreen format gives me a lot of room to zoom appropriately or scroll while keeping my vessel in view.
