doing speed tests... but right now this is running as fast as it was right after the new server went in.
Speed becomes relative now since everyone's bandwidth will be reacting differently.

trust me... nobody is a speed freak like i am with servers... right now its blazing.

 

for example.. it is taking me only 1.4 seconds to load this page. Thats the server speed. Any differences on the outside are all bandwidth.
Thats why we benchmark inside the network ... so you are measuring something you control... the server speed only.

On the outside of the network it is taking me about 2.8 seconds to load this page. But of course this is during peak bandwidth times.

So we are looking good.

Yes I just got a DB error on a query, not good.

 

the errors are because we are on it again.

Seriously though, that link in podunk about the "facebook baby" is infected or something. I clicked on the link and it opened up about 1,000 copies of itself. I couldn't close them as fast as new ones would open up. I had to unplug the computer to make it quit.

Well, given that we have run through the night and the instant issues cleared up we think we might have a handle on it.
Going to let it run for another 24 or 48 hrs on the current setup. If it stays solid then we will move it back to the fast server again this weekend with the fix in place.

I am still convinced that something happened during the outside script BS.
With us having to hard start the server a few times I think a config file got corrupted somewhere. But we also found that the LS version of Apache we were running on the new server has been reported to be susceptible to DDoS attacks. The version on this current server is 1 back and doesnt have the issue. It may be that simple.

either way, I could use 1-2 days of calm so we will ride it out and see how it goes.
