What a Dummy. Glad he pulled it out on someone who could and did something about this bully.

 

Just glad the "idiot" did not act aggressively toward the off-duty policeman after they pulled their guns and did not end up getting shot. Some people have no idea what responsibility they take on when they pull a gun on someone. Just the act can be assumed to be an act of aggression or deadly force and some can take it as such and act accordingly!
I know for me I take it very seriously and if somebody pulls a gun on me I am going to expect them to use it and will use any means necessary to ensure my safety!

 

Yep! My thoughts exactly! Most of the men I fish with carry. It's a way of life for us. I hope I am as composed as the officers were to deescalate the situation before someone gets hurt. Unfortunately when someone pulls a gun on you, the time for talking is over! You definitely cannot assume it is a bluff or you could very easily wind up getting shot. If someone is brazen enough to pull a gun on me in a menacing fashion, I would be inclined to think they are ABOUT to use it on me! My goal is to go home safely. I will do what it takes to keep myself and my fishing partners safe! I pray that type situation never happens!

 

Sad thing is even if the guy is an ass and went around it wrong, he probably was right that the officers were trespassing.

 

It's a public rd with a bridge over a creek about 20 yds wide,theres a pond and a small dam to the pond just upstream from the bridge, they were shooting the tidal creek just below the dam.Don't know if they were shooting off the road or shooting off the bank or from which side of road or creek they may have been on.Hopefully being cops they should be respectful of trespassing laws.One thing for sure the old man that pulled gun first should wake up every morning and give thanks for the oppurtunity to be able to take another breath,could have gotten ugly for both sides in just a twitch of a trigger finger for everybody.But bet he never figured he would go from a badazz to a dumbazz that quik and all the associated cost and aggravation it has put his family thru over something so stupid.....

 

Yeah, it doesn't seem to say whether the off duty cops were actually trespassing on his private property or not. With no witnesses it is the word of three cops against the 61 yo. I'd say the old guy is screwed no matter what.

EDIT gotta face it, that is why a lot of high school runts become cops in the first place.

 

Sounds like it would be public domain, at least in Texas. Of course, some of the Texas land owners still think they can keep you out of their half of the river..
