Couldn't read the name on their shirts, but they dropped a bundle on a short barreled Ruger .22 rifle and suppressor!

They were hunting in the La. marsh.

and they can't afford retrievers or at least a zebco?
that was what I thought! And went through the work of getting the bowfishing bow to, the fish hawk i think. then put the dang bottle with string around it. Looked like it worked smooth though and thats all that counts, good for begginers.

I watched that show last night as well. They paid $3,000 a piece for two suppressed .22cal rifles (total $6,000), threw in a bowfishing trip, have a kick a$$ air boat all tricked out and yet use a a freaking hand wrap reel on that poor girls bow setup for her first time out. I thought that was crazy!!! It was still cool to see bowfishing as part of a totally unrelated TV show.

Were they full auto 22's? Or just suppressed
They were supressed semi-auto's. They test shot one on the show before they bought them. It would fire as quick as you could pull the trigger.

As for the hand wrap reel choice, I have a friend of mine that still uses that style and loves it. I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe because that is what he started with and that is all he has ever used. I don't think he has even tried a spinner or AMS Retriever yet. That is probably why he still uses the hand wrap style. To each their own I guess. They all work. It just boils down to personal preference. I just found it odd that they would spend all that money on rifles when they own and operate a beautiful air boat based bowfishing charter business, yet use the most primitive style reel on the market. I was baffled by that.
