id say just have a spare bottle with 200# line and you should be fine. i dont think id wanna shoot 400# line all night.

i think the only difference is the slot in the side of the reel, and of course you dont tie the heavy line inside the big game bottle it loops back outside the reel so you can attach the float bouy.

i think thats all right. ive not owned one either.

Like whiteriverrambo said, extra bottle (one without a cut in the side) with 400lb fast flight (best retriever line out there) tied normally to the back end of the bottle. Shoot it like a normal bottle you just may have to deal with an occasional case of the line slipping out of the slot instead of feeding into the bottle which is an easy fix. Personally id have a big game retriever and for normal shooting, id put a Muzzy spinner on there and never worry about it again

Yes, on the big game slotted retriever there are 2 screws at end of slot above and below the slot about 3/8" apart. Fab up a small thin plate that can screw in there to top and bottom screws to stop or cover the slot and use like a regular retriever, just tie to the bottom of bottle as said also. Then can remove for big game with float and use as dual purpose...it will also work without making the bracket up but it's a PITA

This!! Guitar pick makes a good cover. That's what I have on mine and it's been that way for years. Of course my retriever is the back up to my back up muzzy, that's back up to the muzzy on my bow.
