Which capacitor do I need for 150w hps light. The local electrician is saying a 14uf but everything I have read is 55uf.
On the back of my light it has "input amps 3.2" is that the amount of amps it draws off my genny constant.

Check OBG's blog.

Local electricians should never give HID lighting advice. lol
You didn't say which 150's you have but the "tag on back says 3.2 amps" tells me you have an Econolight npf light which takes a 55uf cap. Tha 14 uf cap some people recommend is for a 150 hps light that has a 2 step/multi stage ballast-multi-tap CWA ballasts being a good example. These lights come with a cap already.
The 3.2 amps shown is a "worst case scenario" figure and most reactor type ballast 150 hps lights will draw about 2.9-3.1 amps warm.
After adding a 55 uf cap amp draw will drop to 1.4-1.5 amps when the bulb is warmed up.

The lights are from gvlighting which im sure are the same as the ones from econolight. Thanks OBG you answered my question. I'll order some and get them installed I guess the diagram you have in your blog is the way they need to be wired.

Dang it I must be getting old. Probably would have been better to order the lights with caps already in them---
