Last year I missed it, and this year I wanted to plan out ahead so I line up kids/woman and anyone that wants to try out bowfishing. I live in PA so when can I expect the Carp Spawn..Temps? dates? anything that may help. Thanks

I think when the water temp gets in the 60's they start spawning. I could be mistaken, good question though, I want to see what some of these other guys say.
Well on the PA F&B site they claim that rising water also triggers spawn. I am a true believer in Moon phase as I am a die hard Musky fisherman and trust me it works. I will argue with anyone till I no longer have air that the moon phase works on Musky. Not sure if it impacts spawning in carp but I wanted to hear. From what I gather Mid-May-June is the prime spawn time of carp in 2-3' of water.
All that sounds about right.I think moon phases and water levels and temps all have something to do with carp spawn.I've not payed close enough attention to try to figure it all out.Once the water temp gets above 62 then I just go when I can, look real hard and hope for the best.
I can't be for sure, but I'd say when the water hits around 60. It's at about 55 right now down here and the ones I see are still really sluggish moving. Usually around the first couple weeks of March we start getting into them.
I've also always heard that the water temp has to be around 60 but I've also hear that rising water levels play a big part in the Spawn. I've read on some sites that in this area that they Spawn in late April into June but its different every year & in other areas. I just try to check out my local spots once a week from the banks & then plan to go after them.
there ya go the brady has spoken lol that would prolly be the best idea for anybody to follow just go take a bank loan out and stay on the water for the next month or so till ya see em
The backwaters will warm up quicker than anything else.....usually May here for spawn, but the fish will be there pretty consistant by mid April depending on river conditions.
spawning starts when the water is at 62 degrees...... usually here in arkansas its in mid may...... but depending where you are they will spawn sometime between april and july........... but they are only spawning for like 3 days..... so u gotta hit it quick
and you will find em in all sorts of substrates..... they like 1-3 foot of water to spawn in..... last year we were shootin em with their back out the water.... shootin doubles wasnt abnormal..... but they like the cover..... grasses and bushes are great..... did great in coves with fallen trees and logs
The current water tempature in the flats on Dale Hollow is 57 degrees according to some bass fishermen that go out a couple times each week. The carp are not up at all yet. However, I think if it stays this warm weather through next week the carp will be up in the shallows spawning by next weekend :tu:
