Hey josh, what is the best kind of trailer to get for a flat bottom boat?
Honestly I don't know...I do know that Mud Buddy has a heck of a trailer...
Check to see if you have someone local that sales yacht club trailers, depending on how big your boat is that might be a good option.

Craigslist is the best bet and often I see people giving them away if you haul off the rotted boat with it. I have a trailer designed for a 17' fish and ski boat under my 17 1/2' jonboat. When I got the trailer I took a grinder and cut the bunks off of it as they were welded in place, bought some adjustable bunk mounts and 2x4's along with outdoor carpet. I put the bunks on the trailer as flat as I could and then got the trailer on it, once on the trailer two of us got under it and pushed up on the bottom of the hull to adjust the bunks where they needed to be to protect the ribs and raise the boat up. Took us a few hours to get it set just right and once there we tightened everything as tight as we could get it, that was a couple of years ago and it works fine. More trailer than I needed so I had to put the boat up further on the tongue but it was 200$ and it worked out fine.

Best of luck

I have been looking around for a trailer also down there since I will be picking up a boat from chuck... figured I would kill two birds with one stone. I have checked with Mud Buddy and they run about 1600.00 brand new all set up with 3500 lb axles, bearing buddy's, side bunks, spare tire, and tabs for a boat cover... Williamson Ocean builds them for MB and they are running the same price... I havn't checked with GoDevil of Utah yet they sell Yacht Club Trailers I think...? I have been keeping my eye on craigslist and KLS... let me know what size your wanting...?

also Chuck with Widow Maker Mud Boats is working on some trailer stuff for his boat he might be able to help...

I will mention it if your intrested... but I will be selling my 16 x 48 lowe Jon with Beaver Tail Pods full floor with Non Hydro Turf foam Floor and the Lowe Trailer also will throw in the the steel framed Alum Floor shooting deck and Genny Rack for $1200.00 cash... motor and genny are staying with me... but it will be later this spring before I can sell it... as soon as chuck is done with my new boat I will be driving down to Utah to pick it up so I can haul my little boat down with me if your intrested... i

Front deck has been raised 10 in since this picture

I should be set up to deal Yacht Club soon, I am also working toward high end custom trailers for my boats but they are going to be quite a bit more than a Y C, however a very nice trailer! Let me know if I can help.
Salty Dog that is one heck of a deal, even a Y C galvie trailer alone is almost that much.

SD it's looking like we are going to be able to do those Widow Maker custom trailers for 18-19ish. That's galved, 3500# axle, side and front bunks, spare tire, rollers on the back for dry unload, trailer built heavy enough to do that and the whole 9. I will know more details in the next few days, but that's where we are looking for now. Custom fit for your 18x52 WM. I will call you toward the end of the week.
Thanks, Chuck
