I decided on two crossbows the barnett recruit http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/crossbows/recruit.html and the barnett jackal http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/crossbows/jackal.html I'm leaning towards the recruit because the limbs are more compact and it is little lighter and feels more balenced, but the jackal comes with a better scope and has a 150 pound draw wieght and is rated for 315 fps and the recruit has a 130 pound draw weight and is rated for 300 fps I can get the recruit for $280 with a ****ing rope and the jackal for $250 without a ****ing rope what is your opinion I'm new to crossbows and if there is a better crossbow for the same price range please let me know

I bought a recruit two years ago after owning a few other models. I went with it because of the smaller size and light weight. It is a whole lot easy to move around quietly in the woods and around in a tree stand with a smaller bow. Giving up 15 fps isn't that big of a deal. All of my shots have been pass throughs so far. I got rid of the three dot scope that came with it and bought a Horton 2-7x off of ebay for around $60 and have been very happy with it. Some people do fine with the dot sights but my older eyes like the scope better. Either bow is a good choice and you can't beat Barnett's customer service. Good luck

I do to but it was cheaper than a new compound and it wasn't worth putting money into the compound I have to use it this year I kind of have turned into more of a bowfisher than a bowhunter
Not to mention you will still probably grow into a GOOD vertical compound hunting bow a little bit in next year or so, Crossbow will get you hunting at least. Post up your deer pics

Exactly I don't plan on this being permanent
But save it till your over 50, Might need it when you get olde, after my eye surgery can't shoot vertical bow with sites any more and focus on site pin and target. Got a crossbow last year and plan on shooting something with it this year also...

Good point my dad doesn't bow hunt but he bowfishes a few times a year and he screwed up his arm not to long ago and can't pull 40# with any less than that the carp in Saginaw bay will take your bow away from you and beat you with it do you think this crossbow would be to powerful to bowfish with? It's rated for 300fps with a 400 grain bolt
