Robert Thomas of Long Beach Custom Boats has begun my build. He's truly been a pleasure to work with so far and the quality is second to none.
When asked what kind of boat am I building, my reply is, "an aquatic multi-functional outdoor sporting platform".
It's a 21x84 with a 101" beam, 28" sponsons, & a tunnel. My boat will be a fully decked and hand-railed with a 60x45" center console on a platform raised 2' above the deck in the Texas Scooter style. There will be room for 2 120QT coolers, a generator, & tool box beneath the platform. Another cooler can fit beneath the console seat and another will be the seat directly in front of the platform. There is an anchor well, a livewell, 2 rod boxes, & 2 large access hatches. The livewell will double as a catch box with a fish removal slot built in. The deck compartment openings are rimmed with channel extrusion that runs to the bulkheads to drain water which along with the scuppers at the stern provide for a self-bailing design. The hand rail at the bow will have a gate wide enough to allow an ATV to be loaded.
We will have a Minn-Kota Vantage at the bow and push fan at the stern for our trolling needs. I need to get my lights figured out and ordered so we know how to build the rail and I also need to figure out what I'm going to do about paint and deck surfacing. Hopefully I can get this boat home within a month or so and get down to the business of rigging it.
He's a member of this forum as rt1234 and I would suggest anyone considering a new boat give him a good look.
