Thinking of ordering 4 Designers Edge L-1760HPS 150-Watt fixtures. Just wondering what you guys thought of the lights and also what size caps do I need.

I have one. It is my first venture into HPS. I have had it on the water only twice. Both times the water was murky. It worked well but I have nothing to compare it to. Takes a few minutes to light. Will not light off a battery and inverter. Does not have a capacitor. I am not an expert but based on internet research I concluded that it takes the 55 microfarad capacitor. Nice aluminum housing.

They seem to be decent lights. I wouldn't pay the price for them when you can get RAB 150's on amazon for 5-10 dollars less. They still need caps but it is a little extra money to go towards the caps for the came type of light. I know the RAB lights need s 55uf R-type capacitor too. If you have your heart set on the designers edge lights get on their website and ask the customer service what type of caps are need to make them HPF.

Thanks for the help guys. The rab lights are cheaper but I can't find them in a 6x9 a miscalculation when I was building my deck is causing a hard time finding lights at a good price. E-conolight is sold out for a few weeks and i am trying to get ready for a tournament on the 1st. Looks like I got to spend the money.

Good luck with Designers Edge customer service. I called a couple weeks ago and asked about capacitors. The gentleman who answered my call was no help at all. Since it had a reactor type ballast for 150 watts, I concluded, based on surmise, conjecture and supposition, that it took the same 55 microfarad capacitor as the e-conolight 150 HPS. I have not installed one yet.

I called Designers Edge yesterday And I talked to the same guy I think and he told me that he has never heard of adding caps to a 150 watt hps light and the lights are made to run the way they are built at 384 watts per light. I am going to call cap king and see what they tell me. Before I open the boxes thanks.
