My current setup is 4 250watt hps and 4 150 watt hps on a champion 4,000. All these are old magnetic ballast of various age. Some of the ballasts have capacitors making them high power factor but some of them don't. I have been having multiple problems with the lights not staying on, flickering, overloading the genny, etc... I am about to start replacing the lights that are having problems one by one with digital ballasts. My question is do you guys think that I can run 4 250's and 4 150's off of a Honda inverter generator? If not then I am going to go with 400watt digitals and keep using my champion genny. I would really like to get a setup that isn't so loud however I don't think I would be happy with led lights. I feel like the Honda genny is my best option. Also I already have 8 nice housings on the boat so it would be a waste to convert over to led and get rid of my housings.
