A buddy of mine kept a couple of his gator tags and we are going to go down to the coast next weekend and see if we can fill them.. Do any of you guys have any idea the best way to go about harvesting one? And does anyone in the area have a bow rig set up for gators they would be willing to let me borrow?

Well I'm assuming I'm going to need a slotted retriever. The way I rig my bow for gator gar I'd be a little scared doing for a gator..

Also I think someone mentioned once before I needed to have the line tied to the tip instead of the arrow... So any advice would be good.. If not ill stick out a line and hook

That's exactly right Steve. When we went on our draw hunt it was even worse. Didn't get out till after lunch, had to be in by 6:00pm. Then couldn't go out the next morning till well after sun up..........Not vary conducive to hunting these warm blooded creatures. Would have love to have been able to hunt pre-dawn and dusk.

My dad got drawn for Mad Island WMA near port Lavaca. He got an 8' this morning (on a line). But he said there were 5 to 6 footers practically coming up to the boat and a few guys in camp took gators with bows
