I've got a pair of EU2000i's. They're about a year and a half old. Never an issue until last Saturday. I think I have it narrowed down to the vent on the fuel cap not working properly to let enough air in. Generator runs for a few minutes then sputters and kicks out (causing other one to overload and shut power down). After a few go-rounds of it doing the same thing, I loosened the fuel cap and it was fine. Anyone else ever had an issue with the vent on their Honda generator?

how long did you run the generator with the cap loose to verify? I would make sure that its not just a spark plug or dirty carb. I imagine you can purchase a new gas cap cheap also.

Ran it the rest of the night. Went back out on Wednesday night and it did the same thing. Loosened the cap and was fine the rest of the night. It's a "specialized" cap that has a locking vent on it that you can turn on and off. Guessing that there may be something funky with that. I haven't looked yet to see if I can take it apart. When the boat sits between trips, I have a little roof that I put over the generators to keep them dry. The week before, I forgot to put it on and we received a few inches of rain. Wondering if maybe the vent is blocked by moisture......
