I'm no expert but I am fairly certain the NC state record long nose gar is south of the Gaston dam. Yesterday I seen the biggest one I will ever see in my life. I had all the time in the world to shoot him too but I just froze. Never seen anything like it. It was almost scary lol! I've landed my fair share and this guy was not even close. I still can't get over it. I got a short video of it feeding from about 50 yards. We thought it was an otter it was so big. Just the tip of the tail was coming out of the water. We sneaked up on him and he went under. Then appeared right in front of the troller. Made my heart skip a beat and my legs shake like crazy. Just thought I'd share this because I still can't believe it haha. Unbelievable fish. Anyone else ever seen something so big you just froze?
