How can you judge the amount of RPM"s you motor is turning, my motor is a 25HP kohler v-twin on propane and from what i can tell it dosent have a govenor on it there is just a filler cap there. So i just dont want to blow my new motor up. Is there anyway you can put a tach on them? please help.

Yep get a Tiny Tach.I think you can pick them up for $35-40

Cool thanks for the info. Is it ok to run a motor with out a govenor as long as i watch my rpm's and set my throttle to them?

Ur prop SHOULD bog down ur motor so ur not gona over rev ur motor. Ur gona be alright...

What makes it bog out the motor, my blades will only handle 3600 rpm. but i am going to deff invest in a tiny tach.

the pitch of the prop bogs the motor...if you change pitch you change rpm's

You wanna pitch your prop so that the load on the motor limits the rpms. That way you aren't overloading your motor or wasting HP and overreving the motor . A tiny tach is invaluable when setting up a fan.

The engine governor is there to prevent over rev. Perhaps there is a ignition cut off, avialable in the event of and over rev. My Yamaha motocycle has one. A vacuum gauge may indicate weather your engine is overloaded.

It may but i dont think it does this motor was built for propane and i think it came off a home genny, and where a normal govenor would come out of the motor on this model theres a filler cap there. But i do see what ur talking about the rpm's bogging the motor out. I will find out deff when i put the tiny tach on tomm will let ya'll kno what it's running at.
