So the journey to building my 2nd fan rig has begun after a long time looking for the rig I wanted. At first I was going to buy a already built/rigged boat but just never worked out either the seller would back out or to far or to much money ect ect. So I placed a order with backwoods landing on a 1760 with a 50hp tahatsu, but much to my dismay it was going to take around 10 weeks for them to get to my boat. well about 3 weeks into my order being placed I grew impatient called and my boat hadn't been started yet so I cancelled my order. I got to checking craigslist and found a 1760 F&F in ARK. older hull but seemed nice. I made a call to joe greenway and since it was close to him he did me a huge favor by going and looking at the boat to see if it was worth 5k. The seller had told me for the age of the boat that it was in so many words a 9 outa 10 so I was pumped as crap! Little did I know the seller was slap full of crap, bc joe calls me and said the boat was in BAD shape the motor was shot and the whole transome was about to fall off lol....bad deal I was mad at the seller lol. So the search continues and I found a 2010 1860 F&F with a 2010 2 stroke yammy beautiful boat! got my money together went and met the guy and sure enough he was a stand up dude and the boat was near spotless not a single ding/dint in the hull and the motor looked brand new! So I baught it and here she is.

Needless to say I am in Love with this boat it was one of the last hulls built by the dad at F&F and this thing is a tank! the guy that owned it before me used it to commercial fish out of and had a SS prop put on it that was pitched to get on top with heavy loads. At 3/4 throttle with me and my bro she will run 42, after that I start cavitating so I figure if I wanted a prop just for speed I could get close to 50 outa her with just me in it. But I am just going to keep the prop that is on it for the simple fact 42 is fast enough for me and I like the way this thing jumps outa the hole like it is.

Now with build it had a factory 4ft deck that was inset pretty good as you can see in the pics. I had thought about decking over it but descided to cut ti out and start over.

I went with a 5' deck with the corners 45ed into the side of the boat.

What size fan are you going to run on that boat? And if you don't mind me asking how well did that old fan push that 1652? I just went from a 1642 fanboat to a 1652 and I'm wondering what size motor and prop. I had a 16hp duromax with a 32in hascon on my 1642 and loved it. I'm wondering if I got a 40-42in competition prop and used the same fan motor if itd push my 1652 good. I sometimes fish in some pretty fast moving currents so I need a decent amount of power..

I will be going with a the same setup as TTG 25hp robin 52inch prop. I had a 33" and a 16hp and it pushed great. You could do a bigger prop I'm sure and it would push fine just as long as you keep your boat light.

Lack of funds and time bro. Getting married in Oct trying to get my house finished is killing me. Another 800$ should finish it up though. Good thing for me our fishing is good til Nov.

If the rain will stay away and the water will clear up we might can do that. Thanks for the gig offer but I'm good for now I just built me another one last year (the treads on 14yr old one weren't holding as good as they use too) I use thread rod for mine. With the barbs on yours you should have a problem keeping them on.

I would ditch the aluminum shaft and replace it with a steel one. I speak from experience and over time that shaft will crack. Most likely right below your gussets. I never gave it a second thought until we were cruising across the lake one night and I looked back at the fan and it just didn't look right. Luckily I saw it when I did.

My last rig had schedule 80 1 1/2" pipe an I pulled that boat on 4 6 hr trips down i-20 going to Toledo and those roads are BAD an the boat got pulled on a 12hr trip to north Carolina where its at now an no cracked shaft. That's been going on 2 years since it was built if welded properly and braced correctly ALU is alot stronger than given credit for. I realize y'all have had bad experiences but I was just giving mine, I have a lil device I built on my last fan that saves cracks or at least aids in preventing it. This boat will have one aswell.
