Well we finally broke in the airboat here in missouri! The weather broke and had a beautiful evening. We went to a spot where we used to shoot with a troller and maybe kill 6-10 20-40 lb buffalo. Needless to say I'll be hard pressed to fish off anything but an airboat for the rest of my life! 4 guys 5 hours 1000lbs of fish and got up on plane in like a champ!

Looks like one helluva night! I gotta ask ya, since you're in Missouri and own an airboat, are airboats legal in Missouri or what is the deal? They can't be used in the U.S. Open but I have yet to find the exact law banning airboats in the state of Missouri. Shed some light on this if you can. Thanks and great shooting.

I think it has to do with decibel ratings. I'm not 100%sure on that though. And if that is the case it's messed up cuz how many boats would a person see on Lake of the Ozarks in a busy weekend with twin 502s and straight pipes running full throttle across the lake? Same with the big block jet boats that run the rivers.

I work with a water patrolmen in my zone. He thinks the boat is cool as hell. The legal side of it is the noise. Anything above 86 decimals, is considered illegal. However the law is rarely enforced because of the amount of boats that inhabit the big lakes here in missouri. Lake of the ozarks, Truman, Stockton, table rock have a lot of boats that run open headers and are well above the 87 decimal levels. He said the main time they enforce it is when a boat gets in a heavily homed area and they are being a jackass. Even then they ussually give a warning. The decimal level treated like the speed limit on the road. Is it illegal to go 5-7 mph over the speed limit sure but how often do you get a ticket. I put a troller on my boat so if we get in an area with a lot of houses I'll drop the troller and run.

I know about the us open. I couldn't care less about ever shooting table rock. I won't drive 4 hours to waste my time down there anyway. Too many better lakes closer, or to drive that far I would got to bull shoals. I find it odd there is a ban on there but a big fan is aloud on the lake. Consider big fans are almost as load as a well muffled airboat. I work for the highway patrol I'll ask the water patrolmen who actually works there and enforce water laws about the table rock thing. Prolly banned because of all the yuppie rich folk ruining it for everyone.
