Went out last night to try to find some fish on the river with a newly redone light setup. Before I changed it I was running 4-500watt halos and 2-300 watt halos off of a 3500/4000 watt champion generator. I have 2 electrical boxes wired in line with 10 ga wire wired to a RV plug on the generator. It worked great. Yesterday I added 2 lights and changed all of the lights to 300 watt halo bulbs for a total of 8. On the river the generator ran good for a little bit then suddenly died, acted like it overheated which was odd because it was on the back seat of the boat with nothing aound it. After that with some work we were able to get it to run with 6 lights on but not all 8. It should be 2400 watts and 20 amps(2.5 amps per light). Any idea what would make the genny stall out like that, any obvious flaws in my math? This is just frustrating. I had also just changed the oil so the level was good.
