I see that a lot of you are using Google Sketchup for your boat builds. I haven’t tried it, so it may be better than this.?. However, I do know that AutoCAD is a proven platform that is still very popular. The company that makes Solidworks and Catia introduced a totally free CAD software called DraftSight. You’ll see that it works very similar to AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D, and it may be handy for laying out that remote ballast box, fan mechanism, or airboat steering linkage.
