Great forum here, guys - thanks for all the great info. Have been a member and reading all your stuff for a while but just now posting my first question...

I made outriggers for my kayak last year and had a great time shooting carp from it. I had a hard time getting the fish into the back hatch, however, without poking myself with an arrowhead or tipping over. I'm a little nervous about swinging a gaff in such close quarters - don't want to stick myself OR my kayak! Does anybody use a club or anything else to subdue your fish before hauling them aboard? Any ideas?

When I'm in the kayak a club is a must have so you don't flip trying to deal with a fish I don't think you'd need a gaff just club them before you bring them in the kayak

Nice. Thanks for the info, Chance. What works best for a club? Thinking maybe an 18" length of axe handle with some grip tape on it?... Shorter? Longer?..

piece of scrap pipe with some para-cord tied to it so when you drop it it doesn't sink into the murk does wonders

I just cut a green branch that's like 1 1/2 diameter about a foot long so it fits in th yak or on my paddleboard

I was bringing the heat to a grassy last week with my signature knuckle dragging haymaker with the t ball bat. I hit the walk around. Still cant feel my hand.
