Went out to a friends pond yesterday.... Knowing his dislike for snappers, I'd asked if he wants them "handled" if we see them, "hell yeah, shoot em!" was his response. Passed on the info to the wife, and some other info about the place, and we took turns walking the banks while the other watched the girls and the catfish poles.

This was our take for the day. And yeah, she shot the buff (her first buff at that), while I busied myself sticking smaller commons, and she got the big snapper,

Here's from this last weekend, a WTF moment, As I got the fish closer, wondered what the hell was wrong with this carp, got it in, oh, it's not a carp, 15lb smallmouth buff, my first buff.

Nice shooting. But don't think thats a small mouth buff, looks like a Quillback or a carpsucker. Eye is wrong for a buff.

You may want to check that 3rd pic again. I think you might have a record River Carpsucker on your hands. Or atleast some type of carpsucker. Ive seen em big but not that big.

It looks like every Small Mouth Buff picture I have looked at. Does not look like the Sucker carp pics.

All the buff pic's I can find they have black eyes, were as carpsuckers have the golden ring just like this one.
Hope your uncle liked eating a record.

it has a buff like face but not a buff bodaay at all. Def seems tobe some kind of sucker to me
