Since we have had so much GoPro talk I was thinking it would be a good idea for some to give your operating settings and such. I just got mine and just playing with it in the house. I cant get out on the water so It would be nice to see what you all do. At night Bowfishing? Day bowfishing? Deer hunting? Etc..

Some good tips:

1. Use an iPhone iPod USB wall charger to charge the camera / wifi remote. (apparently it works better and will not stop)

2. Use Rain-X or other brand water run off chemical to coat the case of the GoPro. Only put the chemical on the outside of the Housing. This will almost eliminate any drops of water staying on the front of the housing and interfering with the shooting. Make sure you let the chemical dry and set before you use it.
Warning: I do not take responsibility for any damage done to your property:

3. Use "Rain-X Anti Fog solution" to coat the inside of the lens. It makes sense to only coat the inside of the lens rather than the entire housing this way if fog forms it will not form on the most crucial part of the camera

4. Buy extra batteries. I also have a charger I can take on the boat or truck to charge up the battery.

5. The LED playback screen is cool, but eats up the battery.

6. Make sure you have the newest firmware from their website. The latest fixed most of the issues the GoPro3 was having.

7. If your tight on $$$ - just pick up a GoPro2.

I download the app and got it working on my phone last night. Pretty cool. I still have a bunch to learn.

i'm just ready to get out again to go shoot with a lower frame rate to get better light...

1080
FPS: 24

Also want to rig up a long pole for it too. Get some wide out and water shots.

Jeff--just take me.. I'll film for you.

When u download your footage be sure to delete the ghost files off the memory card. They'll use up space & you won't be able to record as much on the next trip.

I also recommend extra battery or two & an extra memory card for long trips

Where is the cheapest place to pick one up? I'm thinking about gettin a GoPro2. I don't need the newest and lastest. LOL
I would check ebay. many people are selling their 2's to get 3's.

does it matter what kind of sd card you use? I just got the hero 2 hd outdoor edition
I think the HERO3 White + Silver + Legacy versions of GoPro can use Class 4, but the Black Edition needs a minimum of Class 10. Scandisk is the recommended brand, although most of them work fine. When using a memory card for the first time with your GoPro, you should always first perform a Delete All / Format via your GoPro before using it.

I've also read that whenever you delete files from your GoPro, it's a good idea to perform a format before using it again. Something about the files not getting removed 100% correctly and causing problems with certain bits of information being left over. Therefore it seems the recommended thing to do is each time you are finished shooting, backup your footage and photographs onto your computer or drop box, then format the memory card immediately so it's ready for your next use.

My footage looks like it is hesitating. Kinda jerkey. Need some settings.

On the I phone app ,is there a way to view live footage instead of just previewing.

In one of the videos showing how do the I phone app the guy has a frame with handles on it that will hold the camera and the phone. Looked all over & can't find one.

Were you playing the video off the memory card when the footage was jerky? Mine was the same way and i'm wondering if the computer is just having a hard time reading it off the card fast enough to play it.

Ok guys I may have messed up since we talking about the GoPro's I got the regular Hero not the two or three just the regular gopro. Can I use all the Wifi settings and stuff like that on my phone/ what all do I need if I where to do that?

I think you will need to get the wifi backpack in order to use the app.
