I need help under standing led lights .. I think .. my boat has high pressure sodium's on it now and really like them but takes all of what my 2000w generator has to run them .. going to build a new boat this fall and thinking of going with led 12v or 120v, I like the thought of 12v just to run quiet, now here's where I need the help.. if I run 8 50 watt leds how long can I expect the battery to last .. it would be a new deep cycle battery, or if I go with 120v how small of a generator can I get away with, or better yet!! 8 50w 12v and run a converter ( I know I'm opening a can of worms) most nights we go out for 2-3hrs but on weekends we may go all night, that were I'd like a converter but then that take away the run quiet that I'm looking for ... so bottom line .. I want to run quiet but also go all night .. what do you guys do?? and lastly did I under stand that 50w led is like 250w halogen light?? what would 30w led be??? :headbang:

You can not compare the two. Hps cast light in all directions including up in trees and on the bank, leds you direct the light better. I personally find leds give me plenty of light. Most guys can't shoot out far enough and hit fish on a regular basis past the light coverage on my boat. I personally much rather shoot over leds unless the water is muddy
